Monetizing Your Facebook Application - Video of My Talk

Friday, October 26th, 2007

The Vancouver Facebook Developers Garage was a hit. The hall was packed and they had to turn people away at the door. the first half was a bunch of nerds who had crawled out of their dark basements to brag about their awesome implimentations of freeBSD and Ruby on Rails that was oh so scalable blah blah blah. Most people sat and showed their neighbour the cool games they had downloaded onto their iPhones.

There were some interesting apps demo’d but the real question was - ‘Now what? How do I make money from this?’ I kindly answered this question for everyone after the break.

There were 100+ people in the room, all developers and programmers generally. Many with active apps and most working on one or more.

I asked how many people in this room are currently making more than $100 a day from their app. Three or four people raised their hand. I asked how many people THINK they could make $10000 a day from an app? Slowly two people raised their hands. I asked what would you think if I told you about a guy who likely made close to a million dollars this week for their app! You’d think I was full of shit right? Only Greg Andrews, one of the organizers, had any faith. By the end of my talk… they all had faith and I was mobbed by people hungry for more.

In these two videos I give three concrete examples of how people are making huge coin off of their Facebook Apps using CPA offers that can be found in MillnicMedia. Simple examples that you can use TODAY to get paid.

Affiliate Convention Montreal - Aug 27-28

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I will be speaking on a couple of Panels at Affiliate Convention Montreal at the end of the month.

I have never been to this particular show, but I am ALWAYS up for a trip to Montreal! I lived in Montreal for a short time in 1995 and haven’t had a chance to go back since. It is a fan-fucking-tastic city. Kick ass Bagels, Smoked Meat sandwiches, everything is open late, the people are outgoing and open, and… why did I leave?!? Oh ya, because I was drunk the whole time and the economy sucked. Plus it is colder than a husky’s tallywacker in the winter. Word is that the economy is much better now. Global warming should be helping the temperature issues… so I figure it is time to go back for a visit. It is the Paris of North America. If you have never been, you are really missing out.

The Convention will have two tracks. One focused on Casino and Poker affiliate programs and the other on Mainstream Affiliate offerings. I will be chairing the first mainstream panel of the conference Day one and sitting on the last panel of the conference day two. I guess I am the bookends.

My First Session is ‘Affiliate Marketing 101′. I have recruited two other well known CPA network founders to join me in dissecting the anatomy of an affiliate offer. What makes two seemingly similar offers dramatically different? How do you best choose an affiliate offer to promote from the sea of offers out there? Hear from three industry experts who have literally managed thousands of offers and seen countless millions of leads generated.

The second session is ‘The Beer Session’ at the end of day two. We are going to do a Q&A panel looking at landing page optimization and how to create effective ones that get attention, rank, beat the QS, and most importantly CONVERT!

Because the conference will be heavily attended by casino types (known for their SCHWACK LOADS of money) as well as Montreal being the web porn capital of Canada… I imagine the parties will be off the hook.

Join the Facebook event if you plan to attend.

Search Engine Strategies Toronto - June 12-13 2007

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Jeremy, Dan and myself will be at SES TO. We’ll be easy to spot, we are the drunk ones ranting about how much easier it was to make money back in the ‘glory days’. We’ll also share a few tips about how using Meta tags that say <meta keywords=”Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn, Porn”> will get you a number one ranking on HotBot! It is true too. At least it was last time i tried back in ‘98…

Anyway, we’ll be there. If you will be too than lets have a drink or six and talk shop. We won’t be attending many sessions, but will be intimately familiar with the wait staff at the lobby bar.

Toronto is a terrible town that smells like dirty feet and cheese, plus the LEAFS SUCK!
